Embracing Wellness Together – International Yoga Day Celebration at Ably Soft
In today’s fast-paced world, finding balance and maintaining overall well-being is essential for all individuals as well as organizations. Yoga, an ancient practice, that combines asanas, breathing exercises, and meditation, offers a holistic approach to achieving health and harmony. With a multitude of benefits, including stress reduction, increased focus, and enhanced fitness, Yoga has become an invaluable tool for working professionals.
At Ably Soft, we believe in fostering a thriving work environment that not only values productivity but also prioritizes the wellness of our employees. Recognizing the significance of yoga in promoting well-being, we decided to celebrate this International Yoga Day, with enthusiasm and vigor. We organized a yoga session for all our employees with the aim to allow them to recharge, find inner peace, and improve their overall health.
Through this blog, let’s recount our experience of celebrating Yoga Day together with all our teammates.
On the eve of International Yoga Day, yoga mats were rolled out, soft music played in the background, and our activity room turned into a serene oasis of calmness. The excitement was unbound as employees gathered to participate in the Yoga session.
The session began with a brief introduction to the philosophy of yoga, highlighting its benefits for physical and mental health. The yoga instructor led the session, ensuring it catered to participants of all skill levels. The Yoga session commenced with a series of asanas (Yoga postures) addressing common workplace concerns such as back pain, neck tension, and stress.
We moved through various postures such as the Mountain pose (tadasana) to promote stability, Tress pose (Vrksasana) to enhance balance, the Triangle pose (Trikonasana) for spinal flexibility, and more. Following the asanas, we did Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskara), which is considered a complete workout in itself due to its numerous benefits.
After Sun Salutations, we delved into breathing exercises also known as Pranayama, we focused on the breathing techniques such as Alternate nostril breathing (Nadi Shodhana) and Humming Bee Breath (Bhramari Pranayama), which helps in calming the mind, reducing anxiety, and improving focus & mental clarity. The rhythmic flow of our breaths synchronized the room, creating a tranquil ambiance.
At last, we embraced the practice of meditation and mindfulness, guided by our instructor, we closed our eyes, turned our attention inwards, and focused on the present moment. This period of stillness allowed us to let go distractions and experience a profound sense of relaxation, leaving us rejuvenated and refreshed.
To conclude our yoga session, the instructor shared some chair exercises which can be done while sitting, and can easily be incorporated into our working schedules.
Beyond Yoga Day
Participating together in the yoga session as a team, helped strengthen bonds, encouraged cooperation, and cultivated a sense of togetherness among all colleagues. This yoga day became even more special with such an insightful Yoga session. We encouraged our employees to carry forward the lessons and benefits of yoga they learned today into their daily work lives. All of us promised together, to build a brighter future, guided by the principles of mindfulness, balance, and fulfillment by practicing Yoga.
